The existing Landscape mobile app has helped thousands of conservationists complete field visits with accuracy and efficiency. As part of our ongoing work to help conservation organizations in their mission, we’ve built on that foundation to support more of the work happening in the field.
Landscape Mobile 4 is a brand new app with more features to serve more types of conservation work — from site evaluations and compliance tracking to land management and species observations. It’s a full field companion to the Landscape web app, shaped by a decade of working with hundreds of conservation organizations across the US and Canada.
Everything you need, without cell service
Landscape Mobile 4 lets you download properties for offline use before you head out: boundaries, attachments, site history, and your choice of basemaps (standard, satellite, topographic, or your own custom layers).

Once you’re in the field, everything you collect — photos, forms, notes, spatial data — is saved locally and syncs the next time you have a connection.
Bring your property history with you
Every property record — easements, fee properties, current holdings — travels with you. Tap into a property from the map and you’ll find the same detail you’d expect from the web app: aliases, descriptions, categories, stewardship status, contacts, notes, and attachments, all in one place.
All your work, with you in the field
Landscape Mobile 4 gives you visibility into every work item tied to a property record — view details on ongoing Issues, Baseline Reports, Tracked Rights, and more, right from the field.

You can also create new work directly from the app, without interrupting your site visit:
- Site Visits — record an activity on the land, from annual monitoring to daily field logs
- Issues — track an observation for follow-up, like a potential encroachment
- Species Observations — survey flora and fauna, with a workflow built for quickly logging what you’re protecting
- Resources — document a natural or cultural resource
- Human Uses — map a trail, sign, or built feature
- Tracked Right Activities — log an exercised right against your easement’s limits
- Encumbrances — document a third-party overlay
Whether you’re doing a new land protection site evaluation, routine land management, species research, or annual compliance monitoring, the same app supports all of it.
More control over layers and permissions
A few other improvements worth knowing about:
- Custom permissions — combined with our new permissions tools, you can control exactly what volunteers can add or see in the field.
- Custom service layers — access hosted map layers while connected to a network for better context during site visits.
- Editable contacts — update contact data directly in the app.
- Work-specific map layer control — turn on a single Issue or Human Use rather than an entire category of work.

One app, every stage of conservation work
From evaluating a new parcel for protection, to managing trails and controlling invasive species, to studying the species that live there, to staying ahead of easement compliance — Landscape Mobile 4 supports every stage of conservation work, in the field where it happens.
What existing Landscape Mobile users need to know
Landscape Mobile 4 is a new, separate app — it will need to be downloaded and installed from the App Store. Landscape Mobile 3 will not be updated to the new version, but it will continue to be supported through the end of the calendar year. After that, it will be removed from the App and Play Store, and its Knowledge Base resources will be retired. You can have both apps installed on your device at the same time without any issue.
The Android version of Landscape Mobile 4 is in beta testing and will be released soon — we’ll share an update once it’s available.
To help you get up to speed, we’ve published a new Knowledge Base section dedicated to Landscape Mobile 4, including a quick how-to video for monitors and a comprehensive walkthrough of every feature.
